There is something extra special about photographing twins, especially when I have had the honor of documenting their journey from newborn all the way through their first year. Watching these two grow from tiny, sleepy newborns into curious, expressive babies and now into joyful one year olds has been such a full circle moment. Their baby plan sessions, including newborn, sitter, and now their first birthday, tell a story that their family will always have.
From the very beginning, their bond has been so sweet to witness. Even during their newborn session, there was a natural closeness between them, and seeing that connection continue to grow at their sitter session and now into their one year milestone session is something I always love capturing. Twin sessions bring a unique dynamic, and these two made it so fun with their personalities starting to shine in their own ways.
For their one year session, we kept things soft and timeless with neutral tones and simple setups that allowed their expressions and interactions to take center stage. They did amazing during their individual portraits, but some of my favorite moments were when they were together, sitting side by side, smiling, reaching for each other, and sharing those little in between moments that happen naturally.
Of course, no first birthday session is complete without a cake smash. Watching them explore their cakes was the best. At first, they were a little unsure, then quickly became curious, and before long they were fully enjoying the experience. Cake smash sessions are always unpredictable in the best way, and with twins, it is double the fun, double the mess, and double the memories.
We finished their session with a simple bath setup, which is always a favorite for little ones. It gives them a chance to play, splash, and wind down while capturing those big smiles that come so naturally after cake. These final images always end up being some of the most loved from a one year session.
