For outdoor work, Elk Grove Regional Park's oaks give the shade and the vertical structure that open grassland does not, and a long gown needs both. The studio is about twenty-five minutes south for anyone who would rather have controlled light and the full wardrobe to choose from.
The other thing Elk Grove has in quantity is open sky. Between the older town and the newer subdivisions there is still working farmland, and on a clear evening the western horizon there gives the long, low, uncluttered light that a floor-length gown was made for. It is the best argument for booking late rather than early in the day.
