Maternity Photographer in Ripon, CA
Serving Ripon
Elegant maternity portraits for Ripon families — in the Lodi studio or outdoors, with a wardrobe of gowns to borrow.
Families across Ripon trust Jesica Allen Photography with their most precious moments. For seventeen years and 227 five-star reviews, Jesica has photographed newborns, maternity, milestones, cake smashes, and families from Ripon and throughout the Central Valley.
Ripon is about 25 minutes south of Lodi, so every session is an easy trip to her private studio in downtown Lodi. Maternity sessions sit best between 32 and 36 weeks, when the bump is round and you are still comfortable on your feet — so Ripon families tend to book early in the third trimester.
The Studio
Worth the drive to Lodi

A world-class 3,000 square foot studio in the heart of downtown Lodi, built entirely around families — a private kitchenette, a private family living room, and a private changing and feeding room, plus a children's make-believe playspace to keep little ones happy through the session.
For maternity sessions the wardrobe is the draw — a collection of flowing gowns in soft neutral tones to borrow rather than buy, in a range of sizes, with somewhere private to change and no rush about any of it. Ripon families arrive, settle in, and leave the rest to Jesica.

Sessions for Ripon families
Every session, all in one place
Ripon
A little about Ripon
Ripon is the Almond Capital of the World and can prove it: the first trees went in around 1909, and the Almond Blossom Festival has run every year since 1962, on the last weekend of February.
For maternity work this is the best fortnight in the valley, and it is not close. The orchards go completely white from late February into early March — mile after mile of it, with the light coming through the blossom rather than onto it. A maternity session standing in that is worth planning a due date around, and every year a few families do exactly that.
The bloom is brief and weather-dependent, so it is booked provisionally and confirmed a few days out. The studio is about twenty-five minutes north for the other fifty weeks of the year, with the gown wardrobe waiting.
Because the bloom cannot be scheduled, it helps to know how it actually works. The orchards usually break somewhere in the third week of February and hold for ten days to a fortnight, and a hard rain or a warm snap can shorten that to a weekend. So the session is pencilled in for a range rather than a date, Jesica watches the orchards, and the confirmation goes out a few days ahead. Anyone due in March who wants the blossom should be talking about it in December. The studio, twenty-five minutes north, is the guaranteed alternative and needs no watching at all.
“Loved working with Jesica! It was our first time ever doing a professional photoshoot and she made the experience so memorable and wonderful! She is very sweet and explained everything very well.”

Ripon — good to know
Do you photograph Ripon families?
Yes — Ripon is part of our core service area, about 25 minutes south of Lodi. Ripon families book maternity sessions here every month.
Where do Ripon maternity sessions take place?
Either in the private Lodi studio or outdoors around Ripon and the Central Valley — whichever suits the look you want. Studio sessions have the wardrobe and the controlled light; outdoor sessions have the setting your family already knows.
When should Ripon families book a maternity session?
Between 32 and 36 weeks for the session itself, which means reaching out early in the third trimester. Multiples or modified activity are photographed earlier — say so and the date moves.
Where do maternity sessions happen in Ripon?
The almond orchards, and there is genuinely nothing else like them. Ripon has called itself the Almond Capital of the World since the first trees went in around 1909, and in bloom the orchards are extraordinary — rows of white in every direction, with even, soft light underneath.
When exactly is the bloom?
Late February into March, and it is short. That is the single best window for maternity portraits anywhere in this part of the valley, and it books accordingly — if you are due in spring, ask early. The Almond Blossom Festival has marked it every year since 1962, so the whole town has been watching that fortnight for a very long time.
What if my timing does not land in the bloom?
Then October, when the orchards turn and the light goes long and low, or the studio twenty-five minutes north with the gown wardrobe. Ripon is close enough that you are not choosing between them — plenty of families photograph outdoors once and indoors once.
Do I need to bring a gown?
No. The studio keeps a wardrobe of maternity gowns to borrow, sized and settled at booking. A long gown among blossom rows is one of the loveliest combinations there is, and colour choice is worth talking through beforehand for exactly that reason.
