Serving Ripon
Timeless newborn portraits for Ripon families — photographed in a private studio in the heart of Lodi.
Families across Ripon trust Jesica Allen Photography with their most precious moments. For seventeen years and 224 five-star reviews, Jesica has photographed newborns, maternity, milestones, cake smashes, and families from Ripon and throughout the Central Valley.
Ripon is about 25 minutes south of Lodi, so every session is an easy trip to her private studio in downtown Lodi. Newborn dates are held by your estimated due date rather than by the calendar, so a handful of Ripon families reserve theirs each month — the earlier you reach out, the better.
The Studio
Worth the drive to Lodi

A world-class 3,000 square foot studio in the heart of downtown Lodi, built entirely around families — a private kitchenette, a private family living room, and a private changing and feeding room, plus a children's make-believe playspace to keep little ones happy through the session.
For newborn sessions the room is the whole point: held at eighty degrees, sound kept low, and every wrap, headband and prop laid out before you arrive. Nothing has to be fetched, and nobody has to wait with a cold baby. Ripon families arrive, settle in, and leave the rest to Jesica.

Ripon
A little about Ripon
Ripon calls itself the Almond Capital of the World and has the orchards to prove it. The first almond trees went in around 1909, and the Almond Blossom Festival has run every year since 1962, on the last weekend of February — four days of parade, races and bake sales that most of the town turns out for.
It is a small, tightly held place: a few blocks of downtown, a park, and orchards starting almost immediately in every direction. For two weeks from late February those orchards go completely white, which is the most photogenic fortnight anywhere in the valley and worth planning around.
The studio is about twenty-five minutes north. Newborn sessions are photographed there rather than in the orchards, however tempting the bloom — a newborn needs eighty degrees and a controlled room. Families who want the blossom usually book a maternity session for late February and the newborn session for whenever the baby decides.
Ripon is small enough that the festival is genuinely the year's fixed point — the last weekend of February, four days of it, and the same families running the same stalls their parents ran. A newborn born in January is very often photographed in the studio one week and carried around the parade the next, which is about as good an introduction to the town as a baby can get. The orchards that surround it are twenty-five minutes from the studio, and their white fortnight is worth building a maternity session around even when the newborn session cannot move.
“My husband and I had newborn photography done by Jesica and she is so professional, friendly, and approachable. We love, love, LOVE the photos we had done. She is very good at directing us in the pictures — her years of experience really show.”
