Newborn Photographer in Lathrop, CA
Serving Lathrop
Timeless newborn portraits for Lathrop families — photographed in a private studio in the heart of Lodi.
Families across Lathrop trust Jesica Allen Photography with their most precious moments. For seventeen years and 224 five-star reviews, Jesica has photographed newborns, maternity, milestones, cake smashes, and families from Lathrop and throughout the Central Valley.
Lathrop is about 25 minutes south of Lodi, so every session is an easy trip to her private studio in downtown Lodi. Newborn dates are held by your estimated due date rather than by the calendar, so a handful of Lathrop families reserve theirs each month — the earlier you reach out, the better.
The Studio
Worth the drive to Lodi

A world-class 3,000 square foot studio in the heart of downtown Lodi, built entirely around families — a private kitchenette, a private family living room, and a private changing and feeding room, plus a children's make-believe playspace to keep little ones happy through the session.
For newborn sessions the room is the whole point: held at eighty degrees, sound kept low, and every wrap, headband and prop laid out before you arrive. Nothing has to be fetched, and nobody has to wait with a cold baby. Lathrop families arrive, settle in, and leave the rest to Jesica.

A little about Lathrop
Lathrop has changed faster than any town on this list. River Islands has put thousands of homes on the San Joaquin's edge in barely a decade, drawing young families out of the Bay Area at speed, and most of the babies photographed from here are their parents' first.
It is a new town rather than an old one, so the beauty is the water rather than the architecture — the river frontage, the lakes cut through the development, and long open sky in every direction. On a clear evening the light across it is as good as anywhere in the county.
The studio is about twenty-five minutes north. First-time parents tend to have the most questions about how a newborn session actually works — how long, how warm, what happens if the baby will not settle — so the answers are below, and Jesica walks anyone through the rest before a date is held.
For a town that reads as brand new, Lathrop has an unusually good origin story: it began as Wilson's Station, and it exists in its present form because Leland Stanford, at odds with Stockton over where the railroad should run, routed it around the city instead and named the new stop after his brother-in-law, Charles Lathrop. It was a division point by 1871, declined for most of a century, and only incorporated as a city in 1989. River Islands, the 4,800 acres ringed by wide levees where most of today's families live, is barely a decade old.
“My husband and I had newborn photography done by Jesica and she is so professional, friendly, and approachable. We love, love, LOVE the photos we had done. She is very good at directing us in the pictures — her years of experience really show.”
