Newborn Photographer in the Bay Area
Serving the Bay Area
Timeless newborn portraits for the Bay Area families — photographed in a private studio in the heart of Lodi.
Families across the Bay Area trust Jesica Allen Photography with their most precious moments. For seventeen years and 224 five-star reviews, Jesica has photographed newborns, maternity, milestones, cake smashes, and families from the Bay Area and throughout the Central Valley.
The Bay Area is roughly 90 minutes west of Lodi, so every session is an easy trip to her private studio in downtown Lodi. Newborn dates are held by your estimated due date rather than by the calendar, so a handful of Bay Area families reserve theirs each month — the earlier you reach out, the better.
The Studio
Worth the drive to Lodi

A world-class 3,000 square foot studio in the heart of downtown Lodi, built entirely around families — a private kitchenette, a private family living room, and a private changing and feeding room, plus a children's make-believe playspace to keep little ones happy through the session.
For newborn sessions the room is the whole point: held at eighty degrees, sound kept low, and every wrap, headband and prop laid out before you arrive. Nothing has to be fetched, and nobody has to wait with a cold baby. Bay Area families arrive, settle in, and leave the rest to Jesica.

A little about the Bay Area
The Bay Area is roughly ninety minutes west over the Altamont, and families come from it for a specific and practical reason: studio space at home is scarce and expensive, and a newborn studio with a full prop and wardrobe collection is scarcer still.
It is also, of course, one of the most photographed places on earth — which means Bay Area families arrive with a clear idea of what they want and a low tolerance for the generic. That suits the work here, which is built around a controlled room rather than a scenic backdrop.
Because it is a real drive, it is worth planning. Bay Area families usually book the maternity session and the newborn session in the same conversation, treat the second as a morning out, and a good number make a day of it afterwards in Lodi's wine country while a grandparent takes the baby home.
The drive is genuinely the only hard part, so it is worth saying how it is usually handled. Bay Area sessions are booked late morning, after the eastbound traffic has cleared and before the westbound builds, which makes ninety minutes closer to seventy in each direction. Grandparents visiting for the birth often come along, which is easier here than at home — the private family room means the people not being photographed have somewhere comfortable to sit rather than standing in a hallway. A good number then stay for lunch and a tasting room in Lodi and drive back in the evening.
“My husband and I had newborn photography done by Jesica and she is so professional, friendly, and approachable. We love, love, LOVE the photos we had done. She is very good at directing us in the pictures — her years of experience really show.”

Do you photograph Bay Area families?
Yes — the Bay Area is part of our core service area, roughly 90 minutes west of Lodi. Bay Area families book newborn sessions here every month.
Where do Bay Area newborn sessions take place?
In the private Lodi studio. Newborn work needs steady warmth, a controlled room and every wrap and prop within reach, which is why it is not photographed in homes or outdoors.
When should Bay Area families book a newborn session?
Reserve your date by your due date, ideally in the second or third trimester. Bay Area-area newborn dates fill quickly because each one is held against a birth rather than a calendar slot.
