Maternity photography for the Bay Area families by Jesica Allen

Maternity Photographer in the Bay Area

Serving the Bay Area

Elegant maternity portraits for the Bay Area families — in the Lodi studio or outdoors, with a wardrobe of gowns to borrow.

Families across the Bay Area trust Jesica Allen Photography with their most precious moments. For seventeen years and 224 five-star reviews, Jesica has photographed newborns, maternity, milestones, cake smashes, and families from the Bay Area and throughout the Central Valley.

The Bay Area is roughly 90 minutes west of Lodi, so every session is an easy trip to her private studio in downtown Lodi. Maternity sessions sit best between 32 and 36 weeks, when the bump is round and you are still comfortable on your feet — so Bay Area families tend to book early in the third trimester.

The Studio

Worth the drive to Lodi

The Jesica Allen Photography studio in Lodi, CA, serving Bay Area families

A world-class 3,000 square foot studio in the heart of downtown Lodi, built entirely around families — a private kitchenette, a private family living room, and a private changing and feeding room, plus a children's make-believe playspace to keep little ones happy through the session.

For maternity sessions the wardrobe is the draw — a collection of flowing gowns in soft neutral tones to borrow rather than buy, in a range of sizes, with somewhere private to change and no rush about any of it. Bay Area families arrive, settle in, and leave the rest to Jesica.

A little about the Bay Area

The Bay Area is roughly ninety minutes west over the Altamont, and families come from it for a practical reason: studio space at home is scarce and expensive, and a maternity wardrobe of gowns to borrow rather than buy is scarcer still.

It is also one of the most photographed places on earth, which means families arrive with a clear idea of what they want and very little patience for the generic. That tends to suit maternity work here, which is built on a controlled room, a wardrobe and unhurried time rather than on a famous view.

Because it is a real drive, Bay Area maternity sessions are usually booked as studio sessions and paired with the newborn booking in the same conversation. A good number make a day of it and stay for Lodi's wine country afterwards, which is ninety minutes better spent than the drive home at rush hour.

Worth saying plainly: nobody is being asked to drive ninety minutes for a field. What is here and hard to find at home is a private room with a wardrobe of gowns in a proper range of sizes, hung and ready to try on, with somewhere to change and no clock running. Most Bay Area maternity sessions are booked as studio sessions for exactly that reason, mid-morning once the eastbound traffic has cleared. If the vineyards are wanted as well, early October is the fortnight to ask for, and Lodi is a pleasant place to be for the afternoon afterwards.

My husband and I had newborn photography done by Jesica and she is so professional, friendly, and approachable. We love, love, LOVE the photos we had done. She is very good at directing us in the pictures — her years of experience really show.
