A world-class 3,000 square foot studio in the heart of downtown Lodi, built entirely around families — a private kitchenette, a private family living room, and a private changing and feeding room, plus a children's make-believe playspace to keep little ones happy through the session.
For maternity sessions the wardrobe is the draw — a collection of flowing gowns in soft neutral tones to borrow rather than buy, in a range of sizes, with somewhere private to change and no rush about any of it. Folsom families arrive, settle in, and leave the rest to Jesica.

A little about Folsom
Folsom kept the bones of the gold rush town it was. Sutter Street runs on its original line, and the historic district around it has been preserved rather than replaced — Leidesdorff Plaza, the railroad turntable and depot, and the truss bridge looking out over the American River.
It is the prettiest walkable downtown within an hour of the studio, and for maternity portraits the brick, iron and timber give a frame something the valley floor simply cannot: texture and age in the background rather than open field.
Folsom Lake is the other option, and a better one at golden hour — water, granite and elevation in a single frame, which is rare this side of the foothills. Folsom is about forty-five minutes from the studio, so sessions here are planned rather than squeezed in, and usually planned around the light.
Timing is the thing to get right in Folsom. Sutter Street is busiest at the weekend and on the evenings the markets and concerts run, so maternity sessions there are photographed early on a weekday morning when the light comes down the street and nobody is in it. The lake is the opposite — best in the last hour before sunset, when the granite warms up and the water goes still. Both are within ten minutes of each other, which is why a Folsom session more often covers two settings than one.

Folsom is a gold rush town that kept its shape, and there is very little like it within an hour of the valley floor.
Do I need to bring a gown?
No. The studio keeps a wardrobe of maternity gowns to borrow, with sizing and colour settled at booking. If you are photographing at Sutter Street or the lake, bring something of your own too — the brick and the granite both take a strong colour beautifully.
