Serving Lodi
Relaxed, timeless family portraits for Lodi — in the Lodi studio or outdoors in the light your family actually lives in.
Families across Lodi trust Jesica Allen Photography with their most precious moments. For seventeen years and 224 five-star reviews, Jesica has photographed newborns, maternity, milestones, cake smashes, and families from Lodi and throughout the Central Valley.
Every session takes place in her private studio in the heart of downtown Lodi. Family sessions run year-round, though autumn light books first — Lodi families planning around holiday cards usually reserve by late summer.
The Studio
Right here in Lodi

A world-class 3,000 square foot studio in the heart of downtown Lodi, built entirely around families — a private kitchenette, a private family living room, and a private changing and feeding room, plus a children's make-believe playspace to keep little ones happy through the session.
For family sessions the space is what matters — room enough to photograph three generations without anyone pressed against a wall, a lounge for whoever is not in front of the camera, and a playspace that buys the twenty minutes small children will not otherwise give you. Arrive, settle in, and leave the rest to Jesica.

Lodi
A little about Lodi
Autumn is the season here. Lodi's vineyards turn through October, and the rows give a family portrait depth and colour that an open field cannot — it is the reason so many local holiday cards look as though they were photographed somewhere much further from home.
Downtown is the year-round alternative and a genuinely handsome one. School Street was rebuilt in the late nineties with brick roadway and gold-inlaid sidewalks; the sycamores planted then are thirty feet tall now, and the whole street runs up to the Mission Arch, forty feet of 1907 masonry topped with a gold-leafed California bear. Children run about under it perfectly happily while the adults are being arranged.
Lodi Lake and the Mokelumne give cottonwoods, water and somewhere for older children to burn off an hour first, which is often the difference between a good family session and a difficult one. The studio is five minutes from all of it when the weather turns.
A word on the calendar, because family sessions live or die by it. October books out first and books out early — everyone wants the turning vines and the card in the post by December — so Lodi families tend to hold a date in the summer for an autumn session. Spring at the lake is the underbooked alternative and every bit as good. And the Grape Festival in September, Micke Grove's gardens and zoo, and the wine strolls downtown mean there is usually something on afterwards, which is a better end to the day for children than driving straight home.
“My husband and I had newborn photography done by Jesica and she is so professional, friendly, and approachable. We love, love, LOVE the photos we had done. She is very good at directing us in the pictures — her years of experience really show.”
